Editorial Policy

How we evaluate products without overstating the evidence.

Last reviewed: October 10, 2026. Ultrasonic Compass is built to help U.S. home-workshop readers make informed choices about ultrasonic parts cleaners. Accuracy and clarity are more important than publishing more product rankings.

1. Research approach

We start with reader questions: which parts need cleaning, what basket dimensions are required, how products differ, and what equipment or chemical restrictions matter. We use dated sources, preferring official manufacturer product pages, model-specific manuals, technical instructions and safety data sheets when applicable.

Amazon or retailer listings may help identify a possible model or offer, but their details are not assumed to override matching official documentation. One brand can sell different machines with the same nominal tank capacity.

2. Source labels and product identity

We distinguish manufacturer-listed figures, retailer claims, independently measured values, editorial inference, and details that remain unknown or conflicting. When a selected Amazon ASIN cannot be securely matched to a manufacturer’s exact model, we hold back a recommendation rather than transfer specifications from a similar-looking variant.

3. Hands-on testing and photographs

Research-based articles are not hands-on tests. Unless a review explicitly describes a real testing setup and observations, we have not operated or measured that specific machine. Conceptual illustrations are not photographs of an exact branded product. Genuine product images should identify the correct variant and be used only with appropriate rights.

4. What a recommendation means

Our buying guides prioritize suitable equipment dimensions, safe materials and liquids, relevant controls, documentation, and actual buyer use cases. We do not award a “best” label from wattage or price alone. A guide can explain a product’s trade-offs without claiming it has been tested, ranked, or verified in stock.

5. Affiliate relationships

Some future product links may earn commissions when a reader makes a qualifying purchase. That possibility should not change the standards above. We separate technical assessments from buying links; an unverified ASIN or unavailable U.S. offer must not receive a misleading purchase button. Read the Affiliate Disclosure.

6. Safety and limitations

Manufacturer manuals, part specifications, cleaning-solution directions and safety data sheets govern actual use. We do not recommend gasoline, flammable liquids, improvised pressurized cleaning setups, or universal recipes without compatible and documented support. Illustrative basket dimensions alone do not guarantee an assembled part will fit.

7. Corrections and updates

When credible information changes or a source conflict is found, we seek to correct the affected claim, update the supporting evidence and indicate the review date. Search volume and difficulty scores are planning estimates, not guaranteed rankings or traffic forecasts. Older product listings may no longer reflect currently supplied hardware.

8. Scope of coverage

The current editorial focus is ultrasonic parts cleaners for carburetor and home-workshop work. We expand to additional equipment only when there is a real reader need and enough reliable product evidence.
